Dr. Bernard Bennett, M.D, MBA
Medical Director

Dr. Bennett, the founder of Independence Health, has worked as a medical director in senior care for the past 15 years. Dr. Bennett developed the program who because of the age and declining health of his father needed more than what the medical community had to offer.

Dr. Bernard Bennett is a graduate of Cornell University, Meharry Medical College, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his residency at Rutgers Medical School in New Jersey and is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He resides in Raleigh with his wife and two daughters ages 11 and 16.

Joyce K. Matondane
Physical Therapist

Joyce Matondane received her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy graduating with honors from the school of Physiotherapy in Manchester, United Kingdom. On her dissertation she focused on the effect of Physical Therapy on dementia, "An investigation into the evidence of indicators of wellbeing presented by patients with dementia participating in an physical therapy." She has been practicing in various clinical settings abroad and in the United States. Her goal is to enhance independence with the senior population. Joyce resides in Morrisville with her husband and 5-year old son.

Debra McAnnally
Receptionist

Debra McAnnally is a graduate of Keiser College of Medical Assistants in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She has worked as a Medical Assistant in the Orthopedic and Chiropractic field for several years. During the past 10 years, Debra has worked as an Office Manager in medical offices and also private business. She lives in Hurdle Mills with her husband and daughter. Debra recently became a Grandma to a beautiful little girl.

Dr. E. Victor Maafo, B.Sci, M.Sc, M.A, M.Div, Th.D.
Chaplain

Dr. Maafo is a graduate of Duke University Divinity School. While at Duke he concentrated in gerontology, geriatrics, and crisis ministry; as well as pastoral counseling and moral theology. He also has had extensive training in other areas including care of the elderly and Theology of Aging. His other areas of study are substantial including Social Work, Commerce, and Education. He has a unique perspective on aging, seniors and spiritual wellness.

Tehesia Wilcox
Client Support Coordinator

Tehesia Wilcox is a graduate of UNC Pembroke where her focus of study was Business Administration with a concentration in Geriatrics. Prior to Independence Health Tehesia worked with Durable Medical Equipment and training seniors on the use of the equipment. She is a 10 veteran to senior services and enjoys helping them to maintain their independence.

Mischelle Corbin
Executive Administrator

Mischelle Corbin is a graduate of South Carolina State University where she earned her BS in Computer Science with a minor in Business Management. While in college she was a member of the Women's Varsity tennis team, the Computer Science Club. She has 20 years of corporate experience focusing on management services, quality tools and processes and technical marketing. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and actively participates in community activities.
